CDI bottom metal & older Savages, new pics

Postby texgal338 » 23 May 2010 19:53

,No gunsmith section, so put this here.

I decided to inlet the stock for the CDI bottom metal myself; this is on a pre-accutrigger 110 300WM.

Did the inletting, the bottom metal fit perfect; no trouble getting the action screws in.

The AI mag CDI uses is than the stock savage mag well; as a result, the forward end of the mag follower hits the underside of the feed ramp, thus the rnd doesn't feed right.

Unfortunately, modifying the feed ramp is not something I feel qualified to do; so off to my fav gunsmith.

UPDATE
Figured it out, pics of finished installed added

Thats a bummer... getting the hardest part done and then it doesnt work correctly... good thing for gun smiths though.

TG,

Thanks for the photos. Helps clear up a little of the mystery of what to expect when I order mine! Of course, I can pay Jeff (at CDI) visit as Sarasota is an hour south of me!

I wonder if I'll get the same first name discount! :D

Anyway, While I'm not afraid of cutting or inletting my own stock for the DBM assembly, I was a little unsure about modifying the receiver. Until now !!!

Looks like a little, judicious file work would acheive the same result!

Thanks and let us know how she feeds real rounds.

I was hoping for a detailed update TG! :D

Though I know we discussed it in the SB. I for one am not so neanderthal to learn exciting machining tricks from skilled lady artisans!

This has been on my mind.
